A Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition adventure for the Planescape campaign setting, wherein the player characters investigate an eccentric genius and a deal he doesn't remember making with a night hag, who claims she's owed his immortal soul!
This mystery tackles metaphysical questions of debt, identity, and memory, with every design decision angled towards reinforcing those themes. A variety of clues utilizing different pillars of play provide multiple avenues for discovery, keeping things fun at the table and hopefully preventing one obstacle from stopping the game's forward momentum. The power of belief core to the Planescape setting also features prominently, with it serving a key role in however players ultimately decide to answer the question at the heart of this adventure.
I also created the art featured in the adventure (as seen below), including the cover to the right. In it, a hot air balloon floats high above the mirrored landscapes of Bytopia, reflecting the duality of the genius who makes his home there.
